Elsa Trifoglio

Elsa was my grandmother; for her cauldron, I chose a stylized clover because it's the wild plant that reminds me of her the most, even though she loved roses.

Having shared her youth with her twin, Élia, she had an innate predisposition for caring for animals, and like her, she habitually used traditional rituals for daily routines.

However, the traits that characterized her were her big heart, her lack of malice, and the trust she placed in people. This allowed her to create a solid network of friendships which, while perhaps seeming a bit strange when viewed through the judgment of a rational adult, when seen through the eyes of a child, were a small community of precious resources to rely on for every eventuality life throws at us: a seasonal ailment, bad weather when it's harmful, the sickness of a farm animal, or a sorrow of the soul, which in distant times, no one knew how to cure.

For Elsa, these rituals, these prayers, these small acts of magic, represented a way to never stop having hope.
