This handcrafted 925 silver pendant features Amanita muscaria specimens, embellished with tiny leaves and a black opal.

This mushroom is undoubtedly the most iconic in the world of fungi.

It is one of the species that grow in a circular arrangement, and the legendary creatures associated with it are witches.

In popular beliefs, the characteristic development of these mushrooms was attributed to their growth in places where dancing took place in circles during sabbats; since their consumption causes hallucinations, it was logical to assume they were used during magical rituals.

It's worth mentioning a couple more interesting facts:

Shamans in the Russian Far East, during the winter solstice and until December 25th, wore clothing that mimicked the coloration of the amanita and, after consuming it, claimed to embark on a journey towards the North Star, where they could gather information about the events of the coming year... does that remind you of anything?

Some theories suggest that our modern Christmas celebration might have some connection to the customs of these peoples.

Finally, I find the etymology of the name interesting. The word "amanita" probably derives from the ancient Greek "amanitai," a noun generally used to refer to mushrooms; "muscaria," on the other hand, comes from the word "fly," as this mushroom is a powerful fly killer and was exploited for this quality even in ancient Rome.
